DESCRIPTION

The trail starts from Densuș, on the road 687G towards Ștei, passing by the House of Volcanoes. In Densuș you can visit the medieval stone church, one of the most interesting monuments in Romania. The House of Volcanoes is an interpretation and educational point of the Haţeg Country UNESCO Global Geopark, where you can find out more about Earth and the geologic evolution of the area (visiting only with a reservation). Entering Ștei village, turn right, up the Făgetului hill (680 m). From the communication tower you descend on a forest road, to the Răchitova Medieval Tower, and then to the road 687C. You turn left until the intersection with 687G and then go right on a trail to Oprișor hill (1011 m). The trail follows the ridge until you reach Văratecu peak (1031 m) then you descend through Mesteacăn and Vălioara vilages. From here you follow the road to Ciula Mare and then back to Densuș.
