Retezat Tourism Association

Retezat Tourism Association, set up in 2007, is the management unit whose main aim is to develop and promote the Țara Hațegului – Retezat ecotourism destination. This is the only ecotourism destination that has on its territory two sites of international importance, part of the UNESCO world heritage: Retezat Biosphere Reserve, part of Retezat National Park, and the Țara Hațegului Dinosaur Geopark.

The destination is the result of a partnership between those who offer tourism services, environmental protection agencies, and local and central public administration services. It is and will be funded, until 2019, by the Romanian American Foundation and the Partnership Foundation.

The tourists who visit these areas will find beautiful natural landscapes, medieval churches, houses and fortresses, caves inhabited in the Paleolithic, European bison and even dinosaurs. The local legends, the traditional produce and the hospitable people offer a unique tourist experience.

Țara Hațegului – Retezat is an ecotourism destination certified by the Ministry of Tourism in 2016.
